Regard statistique sur la jeunesse

This collection provides a statistical look at youth and helps to describe, using the most recent data, the current situation of Quebecers aged 15 to 29 and the patterns of this population over the last 20 years. After presenting a picture of the demographic situation of young Quebecers, we explore five themes that are reminiscent of the targeted areas of intervention in the Québec 2030 youth policy: health, education, citizen participation, employment and entrepreneurship. Life in society and the economic conditions of young people are also discussed later on.

The document presents a series of indicators chosen by the Secrétariat à la jeunesse and the Institut de la statistique du Québec. Where data permitted, the evolution of the situation of young people is presented from 1996. Most of the data are broken down by sex and age group. Regional data appear mainly in the appendix. This new edition of Regard statistique sur la jeunesse updates and enhances some indicators presented in the 2014 edition.

This statistical portrait is intended to fuel the thinking of the Secrétariat à la jeunesse, especially surrounding the development of the new 2021-2026 plan for youth. It is also aimed at stakeholders interested in youth issues, who will find new statistical references.
