Vieillir en santé au Québec : portrait de la santé des aînés vivant à domicile en 2009-2010 - Série Enquête sur la santé dans les collectivités canadiennes

This article aims to provide a portrait of the health of seniors living in Québec based on data from the 2009–2010 Canadian Community Health Survey. It provides an overall health indicator that makes it possible to highlight seniors who are in good health. This indicator includes three dimensions of health: perception of overall health, perception of mental health and functional health. The article then presents a detailed portrait of these dimensions, including a description of the functional capacities of seniors (e.g., vision, hearing, mobility, cognitive abilities). Other aspects associated with good health are also examined. Finally, an overview of certain chronic health problems that affect older Quebecers concludes the article.
