La motivation en lecture durant l’enfance et le rendement dans la langue d’enseignement à 15 ans

This publication, prepared with data from the Québec Longitudinal Study of Child Development, starts by presenting the sociodemographic and educational characteristics of young francophones according to the time they spend reading for pleasure at the age of 15. Among the elements then examined is the link between intrinsic reading motivation (to like or enjoy reading or practise reading activities without being obliged to do them) in elementary school and an interest in books at an early age among all students, regardless of language group.

This is followed by an assessment of the extent to which reading motivation in elementary school contributes to academic performance in the language of instruction at 15.
