Marché du travail et COVID-19 : récupération de l’emploi salarié et de la masse salariale hebdomadaire totale dans les industries au Québec

An analysis of the situation in August 2020 compared with August 2019 shows that the employment recovery rate in Québec is 93.5% while the total payroll recovery rate is 101.4%.

The situation in August 2020 compared with August 2019:

• Employment recovery rate around 100% in certain industries: finance and insurance; professional, scientific and technical services; health care and social assistance; public administration.
• Arts, entertainment and recreation and accommodation and food services: employment recovery rate of only about 73% in these two industries.
• Total payroll of more than 110% in health care and social assistance, but of only 75% in accommodation and food services.

The employment and total payroll recovery rates in Québec are among the highest in Canada.
