The Observatoire de la culture et des communications of the Institut de la statistique du Québec has been conducting the Survey of Attendance at Museum Institutions since 2003. Every three months, attendance data is collected from museums, interpretation sites and exhibition centres in Québec. The results are released every quarter in the form of tables on the Institut de la statistique du Québec’s website. An analysis of the survey results is published every two years.

Frequency and editions

Targeted population
All museum institutions in Québec (museums, exhibition centres and interpretation sites).
Sampling and data collection
All establishments in the target population are asked to respond to the survey. This is therefore a census survey and not a sample survey.

Number of admissions, type of visitors, month of the year and quarter, type of institution, administrative region.
