The Institut de la statistique du Québec, is a government agency whose mission is to produce, analyze and disseminate official, objective and quality statistics on various aspects of Québec society.
The Observatoire de la culture et des communications is a branch within the Institut de la statistique du Québec that is responsible for everything specifically relating to the fields of culture and communications.
The Observatoire began its activities in September 2000. Its mission is to meet the needs of stakeholders in the culture and communications sectors. It is responsible for producing and disseminating statistical portraits of the various cultural fields, and also offers support for research. In addition, the Observatoire is tasked with monitoring all fields related to culture and communications.
To participate in the survey, you simply have to:
- go to the following Web address: https://statistique.quebec.ca/e323e;
- enter your identifier;
- create a password; and
- complete the online questionnaire.
If necessary, you can exit the questionnaire and return to finish it at a more convenient time.
The Institut de la statistique du Québec will contact the participants who have not submitted their online questionnaire to obtain their answers by phone. If you are not available when we call, you can let us know what time would be more convenient for you.

The survey universe is made up of various sources of information, including the list of member institutions of the Société des musées du Québec and the Québec business register.
Yes. Your participation is important in order to provide the most accurate picture possible of museum attendance and to ensure that institutions of all sizes in all regions of Québec are well represented.
As set out in section 11 of the Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec, the chief statistician has the right to determine which requests for information are to be considered mandatory if he deems that such information is necessary to produce reliable statistics. The chief statistician has declared this survey mandatory.
As a result, you are legally obligated to fill out the survey. Under this Act, any person receiving a request for information by the Institut de la statistique du Québec to which a reply is mandatory must provide the information requested by the prescribed deadline and in the prescribed format.
