Tobacco and vaping products in Québec in 2023

In 2023, about 1 in 10 people smoked cigarettes in the 30 days before the survey and more men than women smoked cigarettes in 2023 (12% vs. 10%). In addition, 7% of Quebecers vaped over the same period. There was no significant gender difference for vaping.

The Québec Survey on Tobacco and Vaping Products (QSTVP) is a province-wide scope cross-sectional survey. The QSTVP aims to collect current data on the use of conventional cigarettes and vaping products, as well as on the use of other tobacco products by the Québec population aged 15 and over. The first edition of the survey was conducted in 2020 and the second in 2023, allowing us to track changes in the indicators measured. Data collection for QSTVP 2023 took place from July 10 to November 19, 2023.
