In the fourth quarter of 2022, there were approximately 208,000 job vacancies in Québec. Compared with the same quarter of 2021, this number was down by almost 30,000 (-12%). This led to a decrease in the job vacancy rate (the number of job vacancies expressed as a percentage of labour demand), which declined from 6.0% to 5.1% over this period.
This analysis, based on data from Statistics Canada’s Job Vacancy and Wage Survey, focuses on job vacancies in Québec and its regions. It also includes a comparison with the other provinces and territories in Canada. In addition, tables are available for four key indicators: number, distribution, rate, and hourly wage.
The results presented in this analysis compare the same quarter over two years (4th quarter of 2022 vs. 4th quarter of 2021) using non-seasonally adjusted quarterly data. In comparison, the number of seasonally adjusted vacancies in Québec was about 217,000 in the 4th quarter of 2022.
