L’initiation au tabac, à l’alcool et aux drogues : un aperçu de la situation lors du passage de la 6ᵉ année du primaire à la 1ʳᵉ année du secondaire

Based on data from the Québec Longitudinal Study of Child Development (QLSCD), this bulletin aims to provide a general portrait of the use of tobacco products, alcohol and drugs during early adolescence. It reports on the use of these psychoactive substances among a cohort of youth born in Québec in the late 1990s, enrolled in Grade 6 in the spring of 2010, and in Secondary 1 in the spring of 2011. It also describes some of the socio-demographic and academic characteristics of these young people.

Given the young age of the target population, this bulletin focuses more on the introduction to tobacco products, alcohol and drugs than on the actual use of these psychoactive substances.
