This publication serves a methodological purpose: to check the consistency between the answers provided by kindergarten teachers and those provided by parents regarding certain characteristics of children in kindergarten, including their preschool path. It also examines whether inconsistencies between these answers can be associated with certain factors such as the characteristics of children, their family or their school.
Analyses were carried out using various databases from surveys conducted by the Institut de la statistique du Québec. This comparison may be useful in determining the relevance of asking teachers questions about certain topics concerning their students as part of surveys. Few surveys offer the opportunity of validating answers provided by different sources.
