Well-being of the population: inequalities between women and men

Well-being is often associated with economic conditions, but it is actually much more than that: it means being in good physical and mental health, receiving education that meets your needs, mattering to someone, and having someone you can count on. It also means feeling safe, having trust in institutions, contributing to society, etc. Well-being must be considered not only in relation to the population’s current situation but also in terms of legacy for future generations.

This initiative, which focuses on inequalities between women and men, is based on the Cadre de mesure du progrès pour le Québec [framework for measuring progress in Québec] and aims to examine these inequalities in light of a wide range of indicators on the population’s current and future well-being.

Several analyses are scheduled to be published and will focus on:

  • Social capital (July 9, 2025)
  • Human capital (October 8, 2025)
  • Quality of life (fall 2025)
  • Material conditions (winter 2026)
