Summary of responsibilities
Occupational hygiene technicians assess and prevent health and safety risks by collecting data on workstations and their environment. They develop intervention programs aimed at providing lasting solutions to problems experienced. They may write study reports and provide training on safe work practices.
Education requirement
Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in environment and workplace health and safety, in sanitation and industrial safety or in another appropriate field of specialization
Condition of employment
None (if certification by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists or by the Conseil d’accréditation en hygiène industrielle is required at the time of hiring, it must be considered as a condition of employment)
