Summary of responsibilities
Maintenance painters perform various tasks related to the painting, staining and varnishing of interior and exterior surfaces as well as the installation of flexible floor coverings (carpet, tiles, etc.). More specifically, they prepare surfaces by filling holes and cracks or by sanding surfaces with abrasives, chemical strippers, scrapers, blowtorches or other means, and prepare and apply preparations and mixtures of paint, stain and varnish.
Education requirement
Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) with a specialization in commercial and residential painting, or the equivalent recognized by the appropriate authority
Condition of employment
Preferably, a competency certificate in painting and laying of resilient floor coverings
Minimum experience generally required by level of complexity
