Summary of responsibilities
Janitors and caretakers perform all tasks related to the preventive maintenance, physical maintenance and cleaning of public or private buildings and their grounds, and oversee the security of the premises. In residences or apartment buildings, they also provide basic services (meeting the needs of tenants with respect to their units and managing equipment, mail and complaints).

Condition of employment
For building superintendents, a certificate in one or more of the building trades, or a building operator certificate may be required
