Summary of responsibilities
Heavy equipment operators drive and operate heavy equipment and construction machinery used in the construction or maintenance of public works or in road or civil engineering works.
Education requirement
Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) specialized in heavy equipment operating or in heavy-duty equipment driving, or the equivalent recognized by the appropriate authority
Condition of employment
Must have at least a class 5 drivers licence. Generally, a Trade certification following an apprenticeship program is compulsory to operate heavy equipment
