    The objective of the survey is to produce a statistical portrait of community action in Québec. The information collected will allow us to measure the size of this sector and its economic contribution in the province.

    What is the Institut de la statistique du Québec?

    The Institut de la statistique du Québec (ISQ) is a government agency whose mission is to produce official, objective and quality statistics on various aspects of Québec society.

    What does my organization have to do for this survey?

    Preliminary stage of the survey

    First, we will ask you to provide the contact information of the person in your organization who will be able to answer the survey questionnaire, which covers the following aspects: reporting period, organizational profile, community services, financial situation, human resources, democratic governance and community participation, and objectives of the organization. We will also ask you to confirm some information. This preliminary stage will only take a few minutes.

    To provide this information, you simply have to:

    An e-mail will be sent to the person you have identified so they can complete the questionnaire. This person will have a few weeks to complete it.

    Survey questionnaire

    To access the survey questionnaire, the person you have identified will have to:

    • go to statistique.quebec.ca/e437e;
    • enter the identifier provided in the e-mail they received or in the invitation letter sent to the organization;
    • create a password.

    This person can then start completing the survey. If necessary, they can exit the questionnaire and return to finish it at a more convenient time.

    The Institut de la statistique du Québec will contact the persons who have not submitted their online questionnaire to obtain their answers by telephone. If the person identified is not available when we call, they can let us know what time would be more convenient for them.

    Are telephone interviews recorded?

    For quality and training purposes, telephone interviews with Institut de la statistique du Québec agents are recorded. Any person who does not want their interview to be recorded can notify the agent at the beginning of the call.

    Why was my organization chosen?

    Your organization was selected from the Registre des entreprises du Québec (REQ) as well as lists from ministries, agencies, and other organizations likely to keep a list of community action organizations.

    The Institut de la statistique du Québec selects its samples randomly while taking into account the source from which the organizations were drawn, the type and size of the organizations, as well as the administrative region where they are located.

    Is my organization obligated to take part in this survey?

    Yes. The participation of your organization is essential because it will ensure that community action organizations of all types, of all sizes and in all administrative regions are represented.

    As set out in section 11 of the Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec, the Chief Statistician has the right to determine which requests for information are to be considered mandatory if he deems that such information is necessary to produce reliable statistics. It was determined by the Chief Statistician that this survey should be mandatory.

    As a result, your organization is legally obligated to take part in the survey. Under the Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec, anyone asked to provide the Institut de la statistique du Québec with information deemed mandatory must do so by the prescribed deadline and in the prescribed format.
