This survey is conducted on behalf of the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie (MEIE) and aims to better understand the productivity issues facing Québec businesses. The information we collect will be used to help make government strategies and initiatives more effective.

The Institut de la statistique du Québec is a government agency whose mission is to produce, analyze and disseminate official, objective and quality statistics on various aspects of Québec society.
- Preliminary stage
First, we will ask you to provide the contact information of the person in your business who will be able to answer the survey questionnaire, which covers the following topics: business profile, investments in automation technologies, product and business process innovation, and external support needs. We will also ask you to confirm some information. This preliminary stage will only take a few minutes.
To do so, you simply have to:
- Go to the form at statistique.quebec.ca/e435e;
- Enter the identifier printed on the letter you received.
An e-mail will be sent to the person you have identified so they can complete the questionnaire. This person will have a few weeks to complete it.
- Questionnaire to be completed
To access the survey questionnaire, the person identified will have to:
- Go to statistique.quebec.ca/e435e;
- Enter the identifier provided in the e-mail they received or on the invitation letter sent to the business.
- Create a password.
They can then start completing the survey. If necessary, they can exit the questionnaire and come back to it later.
The Institut de la statistique du Québec will call the persons who have not submitted their online questionnaire to obtain their answers by telephone. If they are not available when we call, they can let us know what time would be more convenient for them.

For quality and training purposes, telephone interviews with the Institut de la statistique du Québec agents are recorded. Any person who does not want their interview to be recorded can notify the agent at the beginning of the call.
Your business was selected from a file produced based on the information in Statistics Canada’s Business Register (BR) database.
The Institut de la statistique du Québec selects its samples randomly. For the needs of this survey, the sample had to take into account industry sectors and business sizes, among other things.
Yes. The participation of your business is essential to ensure that businesses of all sizes and in all the industry sectors targeted by this survey are represented.
As set out in section 11 of the Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec, the Chief Statistician has the right to determine which requests for information are to be considered mandatory if he deems that such information is necessary to produce reliable statistics. It was determined by the Chief Statistician that this survey should be mandatory.
As a result, your business is legally obligated to take part in the survey. Under the Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec, anyone asked to provide the Institut with information deemed mandatory must do so by the prescribed deadline and in the prescribed format.

The Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec guarantees that the information provided will be kept confidential and will only be used for statistical purposes. All those working at the Institut de la statistique du Québec have been sworn in before a commissioner and are bound to maintain secrecy and confidentiality.
Only duly authorized personnel at the Institut de la Statistique du Québec will have access to the answers provided by participating businesses. Only aggregated results that comply with confidentiality rules will be shared with the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie (MEIE).
