Work potential in Québec among persons with disabilities not in the labour force in 2017

In 2017, in Québec, there were an estimated 100,100 non-student individuals aged 15 to 64 not in the labour force with at least one disability who had the potential to work. The work potential rate, meaning the share of non-working individuals with work potential in relation to the overall non-working population, was about 34%. This rate increases to about 75% among those aged 15 to 24.

Not all people with disabilities are able to enter the workforce or make full use of their skills and experience. However, modifying the work environment or work organization can positively influence their participation in the labour market.

This publication presents a descriptive portrait of this population.
