Volunteerism in the Québec population

Based on Statistics Canada’s General Social Survey, this information relates to volunteerism in the population aged 15 and over: number and proportion of volunteers, number of hours dedicated to volunteering, sectors of activity concerned, motivations, etc. Most statistics are broken down by age group and gender.

The General Social Survey – Giving, Volunteering and Participating (GSS-GVP) 2018 includes detailed information on informal volunteering, meaning any unpaid help provided directly to individuals and communities, not on behalf of a group or organization. This survey also provides data on volunteering based on an international definition of volunteering.
