An analysis of variable pay plans in Québec businesses with 200 or more employees and municipalities with populations of 25,000 or more in 2018.

L'Institut présente pour la première fois une analyse portant sur la rémunération variable dans les secteurs du marché du travail à l'exception de l'administration québécoise, soit :

  >  les autres salariés québécois;
  >  les secteurs privé, privé syndiqué et privé non syndiqué;
  >  le secteur « autre public ».

Des données sur la présence des régimes de rémunération variable selon différentes catégories d'emplois du marché sont présentées. Il s'agit des cadres, contremaîtres, professionnels, techniciens, ainsi que des employés de bureau, d'entretien et service, de production et de vente.

Les résultats contenus dans ce rapport permettront aux différents intervenants du monde du travail d'apprécier l'étendue de la rémunération variable au sein des diverses organisations québécoises et de parfaire ainsi leur connaissance sur la question.

<li>69% of Qu&eacute;bec businesses with 200 or more employees offered short-term variable pay plans.</li>
<li>About a quarter of full-time permanent employees received a variable pay amount.</li>
<li>Employers paid the equivalent of 9.1% of these employees&rsquo; salaries in variable pay.</li>
<li>In Qu&eacute;bec as a whole, 57% of managers received variable pay, compared to 25% of all employees.</li>

Using data from the 2013 data collection of the Québec survey on total compensation (ERG), this publication captures a portrait of variable pay in enterprises with 200 or more employees in the private sector and the “other public” sector. The results are provided by type of status and by occupational category.

For the first time the Institut presents an analysis related to variable pay in the sectors of labour market excluding employees of the Québec government, i.e.:

  > other Québec employees;
  > the private, private unionized and private non-unionized sectors;
  > the "other public" sector.

Data on the presence of variable pay plans according to various occupational categories of the market are presented. It is about executives, foremen, professionals, technicians, as well as office, maintenance and service, production and sales employees.

The results contained in this report will allow the various participants of the labour world to appreciate the extent of variable pay within the various Québec organizations and thus to perfect their knowledge on the question.
