Quebecers' recreational physical activity in 2018‑2019

One in five children and youths are considered active in their free time. Almost half of adults are considered active or moderately active. The search for thrills and the desire to surpass oneself are motivations for the practice of physical activities common to all.

These data come from the Québec Survey on Physical Activity and Sports, 2018–2019, a survey that provides a portrait of physical activity for children aged 6 to 11 and youths aged 12 to 17, and for adults. It also identifies barriers to the practice of recreational physical activities and what motivates people to be active.

This study was conducted at the request of the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur as part of its policy Au Québec, on bouge!
