Positive Teacher-Student Relationships: Associations with Child Characteristics and Academic Achievement in Elementary School

This publication was written in collaboration with researchers at UQAM, and is based on data from the Québec Longitudinal Study of Child Development (QLSCD 1998-2010). Certain aspects of the teacher-student relationship from Grade 1 to Grade 4 as perceived by both teachers and children are analyzed. Possible associations between the teacher-student relationship and certain child characteristics such as sex, household income, externalizing and internalizing behaviour problems, and academic performance are also explored.
