This publication is based on data from the Québec Longitudinal Study of Child Development (QLSCD). It analyzes the trajectory of the mother-teacher relationship and the nature of parents’ involvement in their child’s school along with associations of the aforementioned with certain characteristics of the child, mother and family. Also examined is the parent’s perception of the school as open and welcoming. In addition, the article presents associations between the mother-teacher relationship or parental involvement in the school with the child’s overall performance in school as reported by the parent.
