Classification par niveau technologique du secteur manufacturier, adaptation de la méthode pour les données du commerce international au Québec

This document is mainly intended for users of data published by technological levels for Québec.

First, it gives a summary of the method used by the OECD to build the classification by technological level for the manufacturing sector. Among other things, the various concepts of technological intensity are explained. Second, this publication presents R&D intensities by industry of various OECD countries and compares them to the data for Québec industries, thus justifying the use of the OECD classification to study the phenomenon in Québec. Lastly, the method has been adapted to the production of international trade indicators by technological level for Québec and a few results are presented and discussed.

This publication also contains an appendix with a series of tables on international trade indicators by technological level for Québec and Canada.
