Québec, December 22, 2025. – Québec’s international merchandise exports, seasonally adjusted and in constant dollars, were up 7.1% in September 2025 from the previous month (+0.9% in August). This finding comes from the most recent international merchandise trade data for Québec released today by the Institut de la statistique du Québec.
The products that contributed the most to this monthly gain were aircraft (+85.4%), unwrought aluminum and aluminum alloys (+10.7%), unwrought copper and copper alloys (+32.5%), and aircraft engines (+10.0%).
The products whose exports decreased in September include heavy fuel oils
(-90.1%), pharmaceutical and medicinal products (-36.2%), nickel ores and concentrates, which had no exports in September, and copper ores and concentrates (-97.7%).
Exports in the first nine months of 2025 were down 3.6% from the same period in 2024.
Exports to the United States
Québec’s exports to the United States in the first nine months of 2025, non-seasonally adjusted and in current dollars, were down 5.3% compared with the same months of 2024. On the same basis and over the same period, exports to other countries (except the United States) were up 9.1%. Consequently, total exports—including to the United States—were down 1.6%.

Important notice about the December 22, 2025 release
Due to the implementation, on October 21, 2024, of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) system, Statistics Canada stated in its December 11 release that delays are observed in the receipt of import data for the most recent reference months. These delays are impacting the quality and completeness of merchandise import statistics for this period. Users should expect revisions to import data in the coming months, even if they are published.

Québec’s international merchandise imports stable in September 2025
Québec’s international merchandise imports, seasonally adjusted and in constant dollars, remained stable in September 2025 from August (-8.2% in August).
Imports in the first nine months of 2025 were up 5.3% compared with the same months of 2024.
The situation in Canada
According to data published by Statistics Canada on December 11, 2025, Canada’s seasonally adjusted merchandise exports in constant dollars increased by 3.5% in September 2025 from the previous month. Meanwhile, imports were down 2.9%.
For the first nine months of 2025, Canada’s merchandise exports decreased by 0.8% from the same period in 2024, while its imports rose by 0.4%.
