Québec’s international merchandise exports up 3.5% in February 2026

Québec, April 21, 2026. – Québec’s international merchandise exports, seasonally adjusted and in constant dollars, were up 3.5% in February 2026 from the previous month (-8.5% in January). This finding comes from the most recent international merchandise trade data for Québec released today by the Institut de la statistique du Québec.

The products that contributed the most to this monthly increase were aircraft (+34.0%), unwrought aluminum and aluminum alloys (+25.9%), pharmaceutical and medicinal products (+84.9%), and iron ores and concentrates (+23.1%).

Some of the products whose exports decreased in February include aircraft engines (-40.3%), motor gasoline, including blending components and ethanol fuel (-42.6%), nickel ores and concentrates (-100.0%), and copper ores and concentrates (-98.1%).

Exports in the first two months of 2026 were down 14.6% from the same period in 2025.

Exports to the United States up

In February 2026, Québec’s non-seasonally adjusted exports in current dollars were up from January, both to the United States (+7.4%) and to other countries (+3.0%). As a result, total exports were up 6.0%.

Québec’s international merchandise imports up 1.0% in February 2026

Québec’s international merchandise imports, seasonally adjusted and in constant dollars, were up 1.0% in February 2026 from January (+3.0% in January).

The products that contributed the most to this increase in imports are light trucks, vans and sport utility vehicles with electric motor and hybrid engine (+54.1%), pharmaceutical and medicinal products (+22.3%), as well as lead and zinc ores and concentrates and aircraft, which both had very low imports in January.

In contrast, imports of certain products were down in February. This was the case for aircraft parts and other aerospace equipment (-24.1%), aircraft engines
(-74.0%), other miscellaneous crop products (-45.5%), and hot-rolled iron or steel products (-53.9%).

Imports in the first two months of 2026 were up 1.4% compared with the same months of 2025.

The situation in Canada

According to data published by Statistics Canada on April 2, 2026, Canada’s seasonally adjusted merchandise exports in constant dollars increased by 5.5% in February 2026 from the previous month. Meanwhile, imports rose by 5.6%.

For the first two months of 2026, Canada’s merchandise exports and imports were down 10.3% and 0.6%, respectively, compared with the same period in 2025.
