Québec, January 22, 2026. – Québec’s international merchandise exports, seasonally adjusted and in constant dollars, were down 4.9% in October 2025 from the previous month (+5.2% in September). This finding comes from the most recent international merchandise trade data for Québec released today by the Institut de la statistique du Québec.
The products that contributed the most to this monthly decrease are aircraft (−55.6%), aircraft engines (−8.6%), light fuel oils (−61.5%), as well as jewellery, cut gems, jewellery findings, hollowware and flatware, and other articles of precious metal (−44.5%).
The products whose exports increased in October include heavy fuel oils (+975,4 %), nickel ores and concentrates, which had no exports in September, buses and special-purpose vehicles (+92.4%), and diesel and biodiesel fuels (+65.5%).
Exports in the first ten months of 2025 were down 4.5% from the same period in 2024.
Exports to the United States
Québec’s exports to the United States in the first ten months of 2025, non-seasonally adjusted and in current dollars, were down 6.1% compared with the same months of 2024. On the same basis and over the same period, exports to other countries (except the United States) were up 8.1%. As a result, total exports—including to the United States—were down 2.3%.

Québec’s international merchandise imports down in October 2025
Québec’s international merchandise imports, seasonally adjusted and in constant dollars, were down 0.8% in October 2025 from September (+0.9% in September).
The products that contributed the most to this decrease in imports are basic and semi-finished products of non-ferrous metals and non-ferrous metal alloys, except gold, silver, platinum group metals and aluminum (−75.1%), pharmaceutical and medicinal products (−21.0%), bauxite and aluminum oxide (−20.0%), and light trucks, vans and sport utility vehicles with electric motor and hybrid engine (−24.1%).
In contrast, imports of certain products were up in October. This was the case for aircraft engines (+83.4%), computers and computer peripherals (+24.1%), conventional crude oil (+11.3%), and light-duty trucks, vans and sport utility vehicles, without electric motor (+4.4%).
Imports in the first ten months of 2025 were up 5.1% compared with the same months of 2024.
The situation in Canada
According to data published by Statistics Canada on January 8, 2026, Canada’s seasonally adjusted merchandise exports in constant dollars declined by 1.2% in October 2025 from the previous month. Meanwhile, imports were up 3.6%.
For the first ten months of 2025, Canada’s merchandise exports decreased by 1.3% from the same period in 2024, while its imports rose by 0.2%.
