Québec, January 27, 2021. – The Institut de la statistique du Québec released today an analysis of Québec’s international merchandise trade for the first three quarters of 2020.
This study provides a portrait of Québec’s international merchandise imports and exports in current dollars, on a customs basis. It approaches trade from the perspective of products and trading partners.
In particular, it shows which products were exported and imported the most during the first three quarters of 2020, as well as their countries of destination and origin. The data are compared with those recorded during the same period in 2019.
Highlights
- Québec’s international merchandise exports totalled $62 billion for the first three quarters of 2020, which is 10.1% lower than in the same period in 2019.
- For the first three quarters of 2020, Québec’s international merchandise imports stood at $65.6 billion, a level 18.4% lower than that of the same period in 2019.
- Merchandise trade (imports + exports) in the first three quarters of 2020 totalled $127,651.5 million, with 14 major partners accounting for 85.2%.
