This survey is conducted on behalf of the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie (MEIE) and the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP) and aims to measure the adoption of corporate sustainability strategies and to provide a picture of businesses according to their eco-responsible business practices and use of clean technologies.
The Institut de la statistique du Québec is a government agency whose mission is to produce, analyze and disseminate official, objective and high-quality statistics on various aspects of Québec society.
- Preliminary stage
We ask that you provide the contact information of the person in your business who will be able to answer the survey questionnaire, which covers the following topics: your business’s sustainability strategy, eco-responsible practices, and use of clean technologies. We will also ask you to confirm some information. This preliminary stage will only take a few minutes.To provide this information:
- Go to statistique.quebec.ca/sdevelopment..
- Enter the identifier printed on the letter you received.
- Create a password.
- Answer the questions.
An email will be sent to the person you have identified so they can complete the questionnaire. This person will have two weeks to complete it.
- Survey questionnaire
After filling out the paper version of the questionnaire, the person identified can access the online survey questionnaire. This person will have to:
- Go to statistique.quebec.ca/sdevelopment.
- Enter the identifier provided in the email they received or on the invitation letter sent to the business.
- Create a password.
This person can then start completing the survey. If necessary, they can exit the questionnaire and return to finish it later.
The Institut de la statistique du Québec will call the persons who have not submitted their online questionnaire to remind them to do so.

They will have to mention the name of the survey indicated on the invitation letter sent to the business or in the email they received, their name, and their contact information.
We will respond to their request within 24 business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
For quality and training purposes, telephone interviews with Institut de la statistique du Québec agents are recorded. If you don’t want the interview to be recorded, simply notify the agent at the beginning of the call.
Your business was selected from a file produced based on the information in Statistics Canada’s Business Register (BR) database. The Institut de la statistique du Québec selects its samples randomly. For the needs of this survey, the sample had to take into account industry sectors and business size.
Yes. The participation of your business is essential to ensure that businesses of all sizes and in all the industry sectors targeted by this survey are adequately represented.
As set out in section 11 of the Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec, the Chief Statistician has the right to determine which requests for information are to be considered mandatory if he deems that such information is necessary to produce reliable statistics. It was determined by the Chief Statistician that this survey should be mandatory.
As a result, your business is legally obligated to take part in the survey. Under the Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec, anyone asked to provide the Institut de la statistique du Québec with information deemed mandatory must do so by the prescribed deadline and in the prescribed format.

The Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec guarantees that the information you provide will be kept confidential and will only be used for statistical purposes. All Institut employees have been sworn in before a commissioner and are bound to maintain secrecy and confidentiality.
The data provided by survey respondents will be seen and used exclusively by authorized employees at the Institut de la statistique du Québec. Only aggregated survey results that meet confidentiality rules will be shared with the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie (MEIE) and the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP) and will be released on the Institut de la statistique du Québec’s website.
