The Survey on the Smoking Status of Quebecers reliably and objectively measures behaviours for which we have relatively few population-based data: the number of cigarettes smoked during the week and on weekends; the consumption of contraband cigarettes; the consumption of other tobacco products such as cigars and cigarillos; and exposure to tobacco smoke in the home environment or in a family motor vehicle (or in a private vehicle if the person lives alone). A comparison of the data collected in 2010 and in 2011 allows us to assess the changes associated with these behaviours observed in the population aged 15 years and older.
