This report provides estimates for all of Québec on the annual prevalence and frequency of different types of parental behaviours that can be adopted during a conflict with a child, including severe and very severe punitive behaviours. In addition, the data reflect the opinions and attitudes of parents regarding physical punishment as discipline and allow us to examine the links between certain forms of discipline and certain individual, family and social variables.
The information was collected through telephone interviews of 2,469 mothers living in private households with at least one child aged between 0 and 17.
