Consultations with health professionals vary according to needs, predisposing factors such as age and gender, and capacity factors such as income and service availability or proximity. Statistics Canada’s Canadian Community Health Survey tracks the visit rate of various professionals in the general population from 2000–2001 to 2005. This article provides a general picture of the use of consultations for all reasons.
