What measures were put in place by Québec businesses with 200 or more employees during the first wave of the pandemic?
Highlights
- The COVID-19 related measures adopted by businesses affected private sector employees more than those in the major public subsectors.
- The percentage of employees who kept their jobs was higher in government enterprises and public organizations than in private businesses (97% vs 81%).
- Private sector employees were more affected by a change in their base salary than those in the other sectors analyzed. However, this measure was generally temporary.
The results are presented by sector (public/private), unionization status, business size, and according to 10 indicators selected to measure the impact of the pandemic during the period from March 13 to June 30, 2020.
