Divorce - Québec

Number of divorces and divorce indicators for Québec as a whole, 1970 to 2020.

Data for 2004 and subsequent years include divorces of same-sex spouses, who have been allowed to marry in Québec since March 2004.

The numbers of divorces are compiled by Statistics Canada using data from the Central Registry of Divorce Proceedings (CRDP) of the Department of Justice of Canada. In 2011, Statistics Canada had stopped producing data on divorces, and the latest available data were from 2008. However, Statistics Canada released an update in 2022 to extend the series to 2020 and revise the data back to 1970. As a result, the data sets may differ slightly from those previously available.
