Les défis de la conciliation travail-famille chez les parents salariés

This publication, based on data drawn from the 2015 Québec Survey on the Experience of Parents of Children Aged 0 to 5 (QSEPC), was prepared to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by the salaried parents of children aged 0 to 5 years in striking a good work-family balance. This document presents characteristics of these parents’ jobs, as well as factors of work-family conflict. A correlation is established between the level of work-family conflict and certain aspects of the experience of parents with young children.

The QSEPC was conducted in 2015 in 16 of Québec’s administrative regions among more than 14,900 parents with at least one child aged 0 to 5 years. At least 9,990 of the participating parents were salaried. This survey, a reliable and representative source of data on both mothers and fathers, focuses on parenting practices, the feeling of being an effective parent, parental satisfaction, the need for information, inter-spousal relations, social support and the use of the family services offered.
