Child Physical and Mental Health Problems: A Study of Cumulative Prevalence

The Institut de la statistique du Québec published today an article entitled “La santé physique et mentale des enfants : une étude des prévalences cumulatives”. The article is based on data from the Québec Longitudinal Study of Child Development (QLSCD 1998-2010). The main health problems during childhood, both physical and mental, are presented. Perceived and diagnosed health problems are discussed, individually and overall. Focus is then placed on health problems for which differences are observed among three key elements for intervention – sex, region of residence (Montreal and the rest of Québec) and socioeconomic status of the family.
