Results of the Job Vacancy and Wage Survey for Québec in the third quarter of 2023

Québec, December 20, 2023. – In the third quarter of 2023, there were approximately 175,600 job vacancies in Québec. Compared with the same quarter of 2022, this number was down by nearly 70,600 (-28.7%). This drop led to a decrease in the job vacancy rate (the number of job vacancies expressed as a percentage of labour demand), which went from 6.1% to 4.3%.

The number of job vacancies is estimated at 44,800 in health care and social assistance, at 20,200 in accommodation and food services, at 19,100 in retail trade, and at 18,600 in manufacturing.

The average hourly wage offered for all vacant positions is $25.00, while that offered for all payroll jobs is $32.21.
