Montréal, September 17, 2020. – Today, the Institut de la statistique du Québec released novel results from the Québec Survey of Child Development in Kindergarten (QSCDK) 2017. Based on this survey, in 2018, we were able to publish information on the developmental status of more than 83,000 children attending 5-year-old kindergarten during the 2016-2017 school year in five domains of development:
- Physical health and well-being
- Social competence
- Emotional maturity
- Language and cognitive development
- Communication skills and general knowledge
This time, we look at the subject in more detail: the analysis of the five domains of development is broken down into 16 sub-domains. The results are provided for Québec as a whole and for each administrative region.
These results can help various stakeholders in the health, education and family sectors to implement, adjust and support different actions and interventions that foster children’s development.
