Québec’s real GDP at basic prices down 0.3% in November 2025

Québec, February 24, 2026. – In November 2025, Québec’s real gross domestic product (GDP) at basic prices was down 0.3% from the previous month, a similar decline to that observed in October. This was revealed in the publication Produit intérieur brut par industrie au Québec, novembre 2025 (in french only) (in french only) released today by the Institut de la statistique du Québec.

Manufacturing behind the decline in goods production  

The output of goods-producing industries was down 0.2% in November after decreasing 0.3% in October. This decline was primarily due to manufacturing 
(-0.8%). In contrast, utilities were up (+4.1%) in November. 

The drop in manufacturing in November was essentially due to the miscellaneous manufacturing (-8.7%), plastics and rubber products manufacturing (-4.9%) and food manufacturing (-1.6%) subsectors.

Service production down for the second consecutive month

Output in the service-producing industries was down 0.3% in November after a similar decrease in October. The decline in November was largely attributable to professional, scientific and technical services (-1.9%), wholesale trade (-1.7%), and educational services (-1.1%).

Cumulative total for the first eleven months of 2025: Québec’s real GDP up 0.7% 

For the first eleven months of 2025, Québec’s real GDP was 0.7% higher than in the same months of 2024. The sectors that contributed the most to this increase are real estate and rental and leasing (+2.3%), educational services (+3.5%), finance and insurance (+3.0%), retail trade (+2.8%), and health care and social assistance (+1.6%). Conversely, manufacturing was down 3.8%.

Canada’s real GDP at basic prices stable in November 2025

According to data published by Statistics Canada on January 30, 2026, Canada’s real GDP remained essentially unchanged in November after a 0.3% decline in October. Output in the goods-producing industries decreased by 0.3% while that in the service-producing industries was up 0.1%. For the first eleven months of 2025, Canada’s real GDP was 1.4% higher than in the same months of 2024.
