Québec, January 27, 2026. – In October 2025, Québec’s real gross domestic product (GDP) at basic prices was down 0.4% from the previous month, following a 0.2% increase in September. This was revealed in the publication Produit intérieur brut par industrie au Québec, octobre 2025 (in French only) released today by the Institut de la statistique du Québec.
Goods output declined by 0.4%
The output of goods-producing industries was down 0.4% in October after rising 0.6% in September. This decline was primarily due to manufacturing (-0.8%). In contrast, utilities were up (+0.9%) in October.
Service production down 0.3%
Output in the service industries was down 0.3% in October after a 0.1% increase in September. The decrease in October came mainly from wholesale trade (-2.7%). Retail trade (-1.1%), educational services (-0.9%), professional, scientific and technical services (-0.5%) and transportation and warehousing (-0.8%) also contributed to the decline, but to a lesser extent. In contrast, health care and social assistance (+0.3%) was up.
Cumulative total for the first ten months of 2025: Québec’s real GDP up 0.9%
For the first ten months of 2025, Québec’s real GDP was 0.9% higher than in the same months of 2024. The sectors that contributed the most to this increase are educational services (+4.6%), real estate and rental and leasing (+2.3%), finance and insurance (+3.0%), health care and social assistance (+1.7%), and retail trade (+2.7%). Conversely, manufacturing was down 3.6%.


Canada’s real GDP at basic prices down 0.3% in October 2025
According to data published by Statistics Canada on December 23, 2025, Canada’s real GDP at basic prices was down 0.3% in October following a 0.2% increase in September. Output in the goods and service industries decreased by 0.7% and 0.2%, respectively. For the first ten months of 2025, Canada’s real GDP was up 1.5% over the same months in 2024.
