Québec, June 23, 2026. – Québec’s international merchandise exports, seasonally adjusted and in constant dollars, were up 5.4% in April 2026 from the previous month (-1.8% in March). This finding comes from the most recent data on Québec’s international merchandise trade released today by the Institut de la statistique du Québec.
The products that contributed the most to this monthly gain were aircraft engines (+104.5%), aircraft parts and other aerospace equipment (+35.1%), aircraft (+10.5%), as well as turbines, turbine generators, and turbine generator sets, except aircraft turbines (+300.9%).
The products whose exports decreased in April include iron ores and concentrates (-25.3%), unwrought aluminum and aluminum alloys (-10.1%), light fuel oils (-71.9%), and copper ores and concentrates (-99.7%).
Exports in the first four months of 2026 were down 8.3% from the same period in 2025.
Exports to the United States down
Québec’s exports to the United States in the first four months of 2026, non-seasonally adjusted and in current dollars, were down 15.3% compared with the same months of 2025. On the same basis and over the same period, exports to other countries (except the United States) increased by 10.2%. Consequently, total exports—including to the United States—declined by 8.8%.

Due to the implementation of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) system on October 21, 2024, delays are observed in the receipt of import data for the most recent reference months. These delays are impacting the quality and completeness of merchandise import statistics for this period. Although import data are published, they remain incomplete and are likely to be revised in the coming months

Québec’s international merchandise imports down 3.2% in April 2026
Québec’s international merchandise imports, seasonally adjusted and in constant dollars, were down 3.2% in April 2026 from March (-0.2% in March).
The products that contributed the most to this decrease in imports are pharmaceutical and medicinal products (-23.2%), light truck, vans and sport utility vehicles with electric motor and hybrid engine (-32.0%), light-duty trucks, vans and sport utility vehicles, without electric motor (-9.8%), and nickel ores and concentrates (-100.0%).
On the other hand, imports of certain products were up in April. This was the case for basic and semi-finished products of non-ferrous metals and non-ferrous metal alloys, except gold, silver, platinum group metals and aluminum (+395.6%), batteries and battery chargers (+469.5%), lead and zinc ores and concentrates (+291.8%), and waste and scrap of non-ferrous metals (+163.2%).
Imports in the first four months of 2026 were up 0.7% compared with the same months of 2025.
The situation in Canada
According to data published by Statistics Canada on June 9, 2026, Canada’s seasonally adjusted merchandise exports in constant dollars increased by 0.2% in April 2026 from the previous month. Meanwhile, imports were down 0.3%.
For the first four months of 2026, Canada’s merchandise exports and imports were down 3.9% and 0.8%, respectively, compared with the same period in 2025.
