Notice of release
Québec, June 1, 2021. – The Institut de la statistique du Québec released today the booklet La recherche et développement, the first in the 2021 edition of the Indicateurs de la science, de la technologie et de l’innovation au Québec series. It provides an update on research and development (R&D) in Québec in 2018 based on the most recent data released at the provincial level by Statistics Canada.
The booklet is divided into four sections that deal respectively with R&D in:
- the economy as a whole;
- business enterprises;
- higher education; and
- the government sector.
The Indicateurs de la science, de la technologie et de l’innovation au Québec series aims to present, compare and comment on a selection of recent data in order to illustrate the state of science, technology and innovation (STI) in Québec and to report on significant developments in STI measurement.
The Institut de la statistique du Québec produces, analyzes and disseminates official, objective and quality statistical information on various aspects of Québec society. It is responsible for conducting all statistical surveys of general interest. The relevance of its work makes it a strategic ally for decision makers and all those wishing to learn more about Québec.
