Québec, August 18, 2026. – Québec’s international merchandise exports, seasonally adjusted and in constant dollars, were down 3.5% in June 2026 from the previous month (-0.6% in May). This finding comes from the most recent data on Québec’s international merchandise trade released today by the Institut de la statistique du Québec.
The products that contributed the most to this monthly decline are unwrought aluminum and aluminum alloys (-38.8%), aircraft (-14.9%), diesel and biodiesel fuels (-46.0%), and aviation fuel (-52.3%).
The products whose exports increased in June include aircraft engines (+17.8%), nickel ores and concentrates, commercial and service industry machinery and equipment (+50.6%), and jewellery, cut gems, jewellery findings, hollowware and flatware, and other articles of precious metal (+106.9%).
Exports in the first six months of 2026 were down 6.5% from the same period in 2025.
Exports to the United States down
Québec’s exports to the United States in the first six months of 2026, non-seasonally adjusted and in current dollars, were down 7.6% compared with the same months of 2025. On the same basis and over the same period, exports to other countries (except the United States) increased by 8.7%. As a result, total exports—including to the United States—declined by 3.0%.

Important notice about the August 18, 2026 release
Due to the implementation of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) system on October 21, 2024, delays are observed in the receipt of import data for the most recent reference months. These delays are impacting the quality and completeness of merchandise import statistics for this period. Although import data are published, they remain incomplete and are likely to be revised in the coming months.

Québec’s international merchandise imports down 12.0% in June 2026
Québec’s international merchandise imports, seasonally adjusted and in constant dollars, were down 12.0% in June 2026 from May (+8.4% in May).
The products that contributed the most to this decrease in imports are basic and semi-finished products of non-ferrous metals and non-ferrous metal alloys, except gold, silver, platinum group metals and aluminum (-77.4%), batteries and battery chargers (-73.6%), light-duty trucks, vans and sport utility vehicles, without electric motor (-10.4%), and light trucks, vans and sport utility vehicles with electric motor and hybrid engine (-23.8%).
On the other hand, imports of certain products were up in June. This was the case for computers and computer peripherals (+55.9%), other electronic components (+317.4%), aircraft (+389.0%), and other miscellaneous crop products (+68.3%).
Imports in the first six months of 2026 were up 0.6 compared with the same months of 2025.
The situation in Canada
According to data published by Statistics Canada on August 4, 2026, Canada’s seasonally adjusted merchandise exports in constant dollars were up 0.7% in June 2026 from the previous month. Meanwhile, imports were down 2.4%.
For the first six months of 2026, Canada’s merchandise exports decreased by 1.3% from the same period in 2025, while its imports were up 0.7%.
