Québec, September 30, 2025. – Québec’s gross domestic product (GDP) at basic prices in current dollars stood at $535.2 billion in 2023, up 5.2% from 2022. In 2023, all of Québec’s administrative regions saw their GDP increase. This was revealed in Produit intérieur brut régional par industrie au Québec, édition 2025 released today by the Institut de la statistique du Québec.
GDP increased in all of Québec’s administrative regions
At the regional level, only two regions recorded GDP growth above 10.0%: Abitibi-Témiscamingue (+12.8%) and Nord-du-Québec (+14.3%). In contrast, the lowest growth rate was observed in Chaudière-Appalaches (+0.5%), mainly because of declines in manufacturing and construction. In the 14 other regions, GDP growth ranged from 3.0% to 7.1%.
Due to the size of their economy, the regions of Montréal, Montérégie and Capitale-Nationale accounted for 57.6% of the province’s economic growth.
All Québec CMAs posted growth
In 2023, the Trois-Rivières census metropolitan area (CMA) stood out with the highest GDP growth rate (13.5%). In the six other CMAs, this rate ranged between 4.3% (Saguenay) and 6.4% (Drummondville).
When looking at the contribution of CMAs to Québec’s economic growth, the Montréal CMA ranks first with a 49.6% share. It is followed by the Québec CMA, which accounts for 9.7% of this growth.
The publication contains information, tables and graphs for each administrative region and CMA. Tables are also available on the ISQ’s website.
