Comptes des terres : région de Chaudière-Appalaches – projet pilote

This report describes the pilot project for Southern Québec land accounts applied to the Chaudière-Appalaches region. The objective of this pilot project is to study the feasibility of creating land accounts for all of Southern Québec in accordance with international standards using existing geographical datasets.

Southern Québec land accounts provide systematic knowledge about the state of the territory (areas of land by land cover type – artificial surfaces, agricultural lands, forests, etc.) and its evolution through time.

As a component of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA or environment accounts) Central Framework, land accounts are situated in the context of national accounting. The pilot project for land accounts paves the way for the production of environmental accounts in Québec.
