The PC Geographies file (previously released under the name AQgeopostal) is based on data from the Référentiel québécois des adresses (RQA) [Québec Address Repository] of the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts (MRNF). This geolocation product developed by the Institut de la statistique du Québec (ISQ) enables the matching of data by postal codeOM for various Québec geographies (municipalities, regional county municipalities [RCMs], administrative regions, provincial electoral districts, etc.).
PC Geographies is used for geocoding Québec postal codesOM. Geocoding is an operation that consists in precisely locating a phenomenon based on its characteristics; in this case, the postal codeOM is the main characteristic studied.
Geocoding is a task that can be automated to process several thousand observations.
The proposed tool is in tabular form. It can be easily integrated into a software solution, enabling data matching according to specific administrative boundaries.
PC Geographies is updated quarterly using the most recent data and the latest administrative boundaries.
