La santé mentale des jeunes : certains consultent, d’autres pas. Qui sont-ils?

Based on data from the 2012 Canadian Community Health Survey ̶ Mental Health, this study provides Québec population data on mental health consultations among young people. It seeks to determine the characteristics of young Quebecers who, over a 12-month period, have not consulted professional or informal resources for difficulties regarding their emotions, mental health or alcohol or drug use.

First, we examined the prevalence of consultation of professional and informal resources by Quebecers aged 15 to 29 regarding their mental health, as well as the different types of resources consulted. A section is then dedicated to the different factors of consultation needs specifically related to mental health.

Finally, all the characteristics of young people related to the non-use of mental health resources are taken into account in a logistic regression analysis that simultaneously considers predisposing, facilitating and need factors according to Andersen’s classic model.
