L’autogestion des maladies chroniques, l’état de santé et l’utilisation des services hospitaliers : exploration de données d’enquêtes populationnelles

The 2010–2011 Québec Survey on Activity Limitations, Chronic Diseases and Aging offers interesting potential since it provides data on various elements of self-management, health-related characteristics and care use. The exploratory study presented in this article uses this potential. The first part is descriptive and provides an overview of self-management based on the experiences of individuals aged 15 and over with one of the five chronic conditions identified in the survey as their primary disease. The second part, using multivariate analysis models, presents the association between self-management elements and the following three indicators: negative health perception, emergency room visits, and hospitalization.
